HAC NOVICE IS THE BEST PLACE TO START IN COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
STEP 1: NOVICE
What they get - Program Description:
The Novice level is the first step into competitive swimming. Basic competitive strokes, as well as turn and dive techniques are taught at this level. A large portion of practice time is spent on skill work, but children will definitely build up their endurance in this group. If your child has finished all the swimming lesson (traditional swim levels) and you want more, consider this entry level to competitive swimming.
At this level, register in either two or three practices a week (N2 or N3). We encourage attending as many practices as possible in order to improve and develop strokes.
To take part in the novice program, children must be able to pass the lifeguard test to swim in the deep end; the test is 2 widths of continuous recognizable front crawl. If this is not the case or questionable, your child could benefit from HAC’s Olympic Way Program (click here for more details about the Olympic Way Program on the Olympic Way page of our HAC website).
