Competitive Program Description
Gold Group
The purpose of Gold level is to prepare physically and mentally swimmers under 12 for advancement into Provincial level by building and refining strokes, turns and starts. Aerobic training principles are introduced as well as the positive benefits of good nutrition. As Gold swimmers become carded (reach "C" standard times) they attend a more challenging level of competition.
Age Group
Age Group 1: This group is geared towards 13&over local & regional swimmers. This group trains 4x per week with combined practices with the Junior group twice per week.
Age Group 2: This group trains 3x per week and consists of 13 & over local & regional swimmers.
Age Group 3: This group trains 2x per week for Local swimmers only.
Provincial
Provincial level swimmers begin a more intense training schedule with 2 morning practices being offered each week. Swimmers attend 7 practices per week. Provincial level swimmers attend more competitive meets based on their race times. A challenging level of competition is held throughout the swim year leading to the regional Championships.
Junior
Junior level swimmers attend 7 practices per week. The Junior level program combines refining swimming skills in pool practices along with developing strength and agility in dry land practice. Swimmers are expected to attend 2 weekday morning practices. Swimmers attend meets based on their ability to meet qualifying times while working toward attending Provincial and National level competitions.
Senior
The Senior team is the top HAC team. This group is focused on National and International swimming. Swimmers enter National level at coaches discretion. The Senior level focus on refining technical skills and physical training. Swimmers are introduced to sports psychology. Senior level swimmers practise 9 to 11 times a week and attend monthly meets. They progress toward national level qualifying times.
